Week 9

We had our KPI meeting with Amit on monday, during my meeting with Amit I showed him my KPI sheet here it is:

After discussing with Amit about the problems I am having through out the trimester, He consulted me on the sections of my KPI that I should work on, which is my effective communication skills, time management abilities and self- confidence. Amit also game me advice on how I can face these personal problems I am having, I really respect him for giving me advice and motivating me to become a better person and he actually pushed me to work harder on the rest of the things that I need to do.

Moving on to this week's class Amit taught us how to get rid of colored reflection in lighting, in the example he was showing us, the color of the reflection from the plane is green, to do this we need to set self illumination to green, after that select object then properties then generate GI off, this will fix that reflection but their is still a mix with the shadow, in order to fix that Amit mentioned that we should use shadow pass and also go back to VRay properties and control the intensity.

He also taught us to set the Alpha contribution to negative and -1 to alpha pass, then adjust the temperature of your lighting.

We also talked about texturing, Amit personally does not like us texturing with substance painter. In the previous trimester I studied substance painter to achieve triple A texture with my model, that is why at the moment that is the only way of texturing with executing a triple A. But during class Amit showed told us that there is a way to texture with 3Ds max, we were all blown away, we didn't know that we could texture in 3Ds max! Amit showed us this tool called view port canvas, and it was so similar to photoshop as well. Amit was only able to teach us the basics because the class was about to end but he told us we can study more about it at home if we were interested in using this method.

By Wednesday I remembered about our poster submission for our short film, my team lead told me that the graphic designer that she talked to will be doing it, and I told her that this certain graphic designer is the same one we were working with last trimester and he won't be able to deliver for sure because the submission is the day after and he had 2 whole weeks to do it but never did, so I took over this task and told my group I will be creating the poster overnight.

The next day on Thursday before the submission deadline I was able to create our poster, I took a screen cap from one of our scenes and made a cartoonized version of our Actress and created a background design with the sky line of the buildings in Dubai with Burj Khalifah, this is the poster I made for our studio project:

I was also the one who submitted it because our Team Lead was unavailable at the moment for the submission.
